NOTD: Watercolor Nail Art

Hello! Today I have a fun watercolor-like mani to share with you. I first started out with a white base using Zoya Purity. Then I just dabbed a variety of random colors carefully onto my nails in a random pattern: Colors by Llarowe Grape, Tweety Bird, and Ocean Water, and China Glaze Isle See You Later, Heat Index, and Shell-o. Finally, I topped it all off with Rainbow Honey Sakura Matsuri for a little extra sparkle!

This mani is from April actually, so it was perfectly springy back in the spring :) I loved this look! Now that I've unearthed it for the blog, I really want to try this kind of nail art again... maybe in a Christmas mani?

Sparkly Leopard Nails!

Hello~ Today I have a super sparkly leopard print mani to share with you!I started with a base of Cupcake Polish America The Beautiful, a reddish magenta holo. I did the spots with Lilypad Lacquer Rainbows in Space, a black holo, and China Glaze Glistening Snow a silver holo microglitter. I did the accent in Glistening Snow as well. Finally, because I am addicted to teh sparklez, I topped it all off with Orly Shine On, Crazy Diamond, a holo silver microglitter topper.

I loved this mani so much! It didn't last very long (TONS of coats + peel-off base coat + typing at work all day = nails started popping completely off before 5, lol) but it sure was ah-mazing while I had it :)

Yay Flowers!

Hello! Happy... Daylight Savings Time Day to you all~ Hope the time jump hasn't thrown anyone off too much! Today I have a fun flower nail art mani to share with you! For this mani I used Enchanted Polish Water For Unicorns (blue), May 2013 (purple), and Horizontal Running (pink) for the bases and flowers, as well as Lilypad Lacquer In The Milkyway for the white of the flowers. I then topped it all off with China Glaze Fairy Dust, because you can never have too much sparkle :D

Love this mani! The colors work great together I think. I dug this out from April, so it is a bit springy for November, but I think flowers are totally rock-able all year long :)

Hurray for Halloween! Pahlish, Candy Lacquer, and More

Hello friends! Today I have some super spooky manis to share with you ;) only a few days left til Halloween!

left to right, up to down: Candy Lacquer Pumpkin Fairy, b.i.t.c.h. by jaclyn
Pumpkin Tits, Pahlish Pop Rock Panic + Enchanted Polish Practice Safe Hex

First up is the delightful Candy Lacquer Pumpkin Fairy, a mix of various satin/matte/holo pastel glitters in a sheer orange creamsicle base. It came with an extra little bag of pumpkin/heart/star glitters for even more glittery goodness :) I layered it over Colors by Llarowe Read My Lips, More New Colors and China Glaze Son of a Peach here. Love this combo! I love how this polish is Halloween-y, but girly and pretty at the same time.

Next is Pahlish Pop Rock Panic, a magical medium purple mega holo, with Enchanted Polish Practice Safe Hex, a mix of purple, black and silver glitters over it. Perfect combo! I am in LOVE with the Halloween Pahlish labels - cutest ghostie ever!

Finally we have b.i.t.c.h by Jaclyn (formally known as Pretty Bitch Polish) Pumpkin Tits (lol), a beautiful vibrant burnt orange holo with orange flakes. It looks super foil-y in the shade, but very holo in the sun. Pretty! Very autumn-y.

Enchanted Polish Mani-palooza

Hello friends! As one can expect, the shocking lack of blog posts on PTR as of late (read: like the last year) means that I have a whole bunch of mani pics saved up. Today, I want to share some of the Enchanted Polish ones!

First up is Don't Ever Call Me Doll, a sheer holo pink base with rainbow glitter. It's been a year since I did this mani, lol, but I think I layered two coats over three coats of China Glaze Pink Plumeria, a bubblegum pink neon shimmer. I loved this mani! This was one of my first EPs, too, so it is extra special to me :)

Next up is a Saran wrap marble mani! I first did two coats of Love the Way You Lilac, topcoated it, 1 coat of I'm Kind of a Big Deal, then dabbed balled up Saran wrap on the nail to create a marbled effect. Make sure to topcoat again afterwards, as this method does create some texture -- I love it though! These colors go perfectly together, and such an easy way to do such cool-looking nail art -- should definitely do it more often.

Next up is what I like to think of affectionately, to this day (I did this mani last August...) as my Lisa Frank mani! I started out with a skittles base using Yellow Submarine, a bright yellow holo, Disco Barbie, a hot pink holo, and Ocean Potion, an aqua/teal holo. I then used my dotting tool to draw on flowers in alternating colors. Loved this, so bright and cheerful!

Lastly, I have Shrimp Cocktail, a bright pinky coral with gold and pink shimmer. I believe I used two coats here. Fantastic application and a gorgeous, super summery color!

Such lovely manis/polishes! I remember almost posting all of these a long time ago, but for some reason I just never got around to it... until now. Oh well, better late than never!

So... most of these pretties are DCed and likely VHTF (sorry! try looking on Storenvy/Ebay/blog sales/FB groups!) but if you'd like to check out Enchanted Polish, be sure to visit their Facebook and website~

Happy (6th..) of July!

Hello friends! I hope all my American readers had a lovely holiday weekend. I have been so busy with family, fun, and festivities that I didn't get a chance to post my manis -- but better late than never!

At the beginning of the week, when I was first feeling in a 4th-y mood, I did a skittles mani with 2 coats each of Elevation Polish Bohai Sea, a deep sky blue creme holo, Enchanted Polish Stay Classy, San Diego, a pinkish red creme holo, and Lilypad Lacquer In the Milkyway, a whitish creme holo. I then topped it all off with Lumina Lacquer Young Americans 2.0, a red, white and blue glitter bomb! This was super fun - a great way to kick off July!

outdoors, sun
outdoors, shade
For the actual day, I wanted to try some fancy firework nail art. I started with Aly's Dream Polish Patriotic Blue, a blue scatter holo with glitter, Colors by Llarowe Bea Stings, a pinky red glittery holo, and China Glaze Glistening Snow, a silver holo microglitter. I then used Bea Stings and Patriotic Blue to paint on a firework design (I used my dotting tool like I do for all nail art, because nail art brushes and I don't really get along very well) and put tiny star rhinestones in the center of each firework. I finally topped everything off with Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond, a silver holo microglitter topcoat.

I really liked both of these manis! The glitter for the first one was the absolute perfect 4th of July glitter, and blended really well with all base colors without clashing or blending in to any of them too much. And I love trying new nail art designs, so the fireworks were really fun, even if they didn't turn out as great as I was hoping they would, lol. But I got lots of compliments on both and I definitely felt patriotic, so mission accomplished!

Colors by Llarowe Beachy Summertime Dotticure

Hello hello! I have a darling mani to share with you today that is super-perfect for the summertime weather that has finally arrived here, hurray! I started out with Colors by Llarowe Read My Lips, More New Colors, a tangy bright neon orange crelly, then dabbed on Frenzy, a hot neon pink crelly, in layers. My method for this is a bit different than usual gradient methods - I crinkle up some Saran wrap, paint directly onto the Saran wrap, and then just dab it on in layers. Then, I dotted with Zoya Purity, a white creme. Finally, I topped it all off with China Glaze Fairy Dust for a bit of sparkle!

indoors, lighting + flash
So pretty! I got a ton of compliments out of this one :) This was my first nail art in a long time (over a month when I did it) and it reminded me how much I love playing nails... will definitely have to build more time to do so into my schedule, no matter how busy I get!

Have a lovely day!

Cupcakes, Ninjas, & Flowers, Oh My!

Hello again! I couldn't resist sneaking in another post (more polish-centric this time) this evening -- no better time than the week before finals to get bit by the blogging bug, lol.

Today I have a super cute mani that I wore all of last week to share with you. I started with Chaos & Crocodiles Cupcake Ninja, a yummy hot pink with silver and pink shimmer. I actually wore it on its own for a day first -- it has an awesome semi-matte finish, and is totally opaque and leveled in just two coats! After a day I decided to get a little artsy and dotted on flowers with Cult Nails Tempest and China Glaze Sunshine Pop, and then finished it all off with China Glaze Fairy Dust for a little extra sparkle. Take a look!

Such a cute mani! I obviously loved this one, since I didn't get tired of it for a whole week, lol -- and it held up for that long as well, with barely even any tipwear! Definitely impressed with my first C&C -- dying to try more now!

Crazy Holo Rainbow Dotticure!

Hello all! I promised you Christmas and holiday manis galore... those are on the way for sure, but today I have a fun dotticure to share with you instead - don't think anyone would mind though, when holo rainbows are involved :) I started off with Lilypad Lacquer In the Milkyway, an off-white soft holo, then dotted with various China Glaze neon shimmers - Surfin' For Boys, Love's a Beach, Orange You Hot, Sun-Kissed, I'm With the Lifeguard, Splish Splash, and finally Gothic Lolita, the only non-neon of the the bunch. I finally topped everything off with Colors by Llarowe Leather and Lace, a holo topcoat, to make everything really shine. I love how it all went together, take a look!

On my nails:
1 coat Innifree Eco Peel-off Base coat
3 coats Lilypad Lacquer In the Milkyway
-dotted- various China Glaze (see above)
1 coat Colors by Llarowe Leather and Lace
1 coat KB Shimmer Clearly On Top

I just loved this mani! I have done lots of dotticures before, but this was a slightly different technique, both because the colors were different for each nail, and because I slightly varied the size of the dots. Overall super fun and colorful!

Indigo Bananas Maui Wowee, Suneater, & Klein Trink Wasser

Hello lovelies! Today I have three beauties from Indigo Bananas to share with you. I went nuts (...or bananas) over this brand just about as soon as it opened - all the colors are so beautiful and unique. Can't believe it took me so long to have them on the blog!

left to right, up to down: Maui Wowee, Klein Trink Wasser (+ China Glaze
Fairy Dust), Suneater
Suneater is a gorgeous yellow-gold holo with an orange shift. I love how obviously yellow this is - sure, it is metallic and holo-y, so it can look more gold as well. But compared to any other gold holo I have this is definitely YELLOW - which is great, because I have so few yellow holos! And then the fun orange shift is just icing on the cake.

If you like this sunny little gem be on the look out for my upcoming giveaway (I promise I didn't forget about it, it will be up any day now) :)

On my nails:
3 coats Indigo Bananas Suneater
1 coat HK Girl Topcoat

Klein Trink Wasser is a fantastically bright blue creme. Seriously, anyone who likes blue polish at all needs this one! Such a vivid shade. I was stupid and didn't get any pictures of it by itself (it was a NOTD and I was wearing a sparkly blue tank top: the opportunity to layer China Glaze Fairy Dust over it was too perfect to resist) but this one is so purdy it can more than hold its own by itself. Super lovely <3

Finally, Maui Wowee is a lovely light blue holo with a pinky-purple shift. This is a seriously pretty color; definitely reminiscent of flawlessly clear blue Hawaiian waters! The shift was hard to capture so apologies for the yucky picture, but it is definitely there and it is definitely gorgeous!

After waiting so long to try Indigo Bananas I can definitely say I am not disappointed! The holos are super strong and totally gorgeous, and Klein Trink Wasser is probably, no exaggeration, my new favorite blue creme.  Definitely look forward to trying more in the future!

Candy Lacquer Tropical Skittles

Hello lovelies! Short post tonight, but I wanted to make sure to get a post up - it's been over a week, I miss my poor little blog! Tonight I've got the lovely Candy Lacquer Tropical Skittles to show you. It's a clear base mix full of matte rainbow circle glitters. I layered it over China Glaze Love's a Beach, a hot pink neon shimmer. Take a look!

 On my nails:

2 coats China Glaze Love's a Beach
2 coats Candy Lacquer Tropical Skittles

1 coat OPI Matte Topcoat

I loved this mani to bits when I wore it! I was having a bit of a down day at the time, so I wanted to go for something ultra bright and cheery - and this fit the bill perfectly. I think the mix of dot glitters is so so fun! Just looking at the pictures now makes me want to wear it again, haha.

Classic Films Nail Lacquer Swatches and Review

Hello lovelies! Today I have several pretties from a new-to-me indie brand on the blog! Classic Films Nail Lacquer is a fairly new Etsy shop that opened up this summer, and I was lucky enough to receive seven polishes to share with you guys!

left to right, up to down: Spellbound, Sunset Boulevard, They Live By Night,
Lured, Impact, D.O.A., Lady of the Lake

Lured is a shimmery olive green base full of sky blue and gold hexes, squares, and microglitter. I layered it over China Glaze Rare & Radiant, a gold/green duochrome. This combo is perfect I think, so if you have R&R or any of the other Chanel Peridot dupes, definitely try this pairing out! Application was lovely, really easy to spread across the nail, and I love the color combo.

On my nails:
2 coats China Glaze Rare & Radiant
1 coat Classic Films Lacquer Lured
1 coat HK Girl Top Coat

They Live By Night is a blue-tinted base full of sapphire blue microglitter, and silver small hexes, moons and stars. I layered it over Color Club Blue-topia, a dark blue jelly. Application was great here as well, didn't even have trouble getting the fun glitters out. This was so pretty and sparkly! I am always a sucker for "night-sky" type glitter polishes, so this was a favorite of mine from the start :)

On my nails:
1 coat Innisfree Eco Peel-off Base coat
2 coats Color Club Blue-topia
1 coat Classic Films Nail Lacquer They Live By Night
1 coat HK Girl Topcoat

Lady of the Lake is a periwinkle blue base with an aqua shimmer and full of baby-pink microglitter and small hexes. I layered it over Essie Smooth Sailing, a periwinkle blue with silver shimmer. Again, application was fantastic, no issues at all. I really like the aqua shimmer here, it was totally unexpected and a really nice surprise when I stepped out into the sun!

On my nails:
2 coat Essie Smooth Sailing
1 coat Classic Films Nail Lacquer

Impact is a shimmery white base base with pink and red small shards/hexes and black bars/diamonds/circles. I layered it over OPI My Vampire Is Buff, a white creme. Application was a little tougher here than the others, in that it was hard to snag the circle glitters on the brush (and to a lesser extent the diamond glitters as well). Still not that bad, not much fishing was done for what you see here, and I think it turned out pretty good! I really like how sparkly the base is also.

On my nails:
3 coats OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
2 coats Classic Films Nail Lacquer Impact
1 coat HK Girl Topcoat

D.O.A. is a gray base full of satiny lavender, pink and pale green hexes, iridescent shimmery microglitters and tiny holo bars. I layered it over China Glaze Sea Spray, pale gray-blue creme. No issues with application here either! This one is super subtle; I like how there is actually quite a bit going on but it all blends so well together to create such a classy look.

On my nails:
2 coats China Glaze Sea Spray
1 coat Classic Films Nail Lacquer D.O.A.
1 coat HK Girl Topcoat

Sunset Boulevard is a clear base full of gold and brown hexes, tons of holo gold microshimmery glitter, and the occasional lavender hex as well. I layered it over China Glaze I Herd That, a coppery gold glitter. Again, application was great. I love this one so, so much! The warm cast to the gold makes it really flattering - I don't care much for yellow, almost green-leaning golds, but this one is right up my alley. I especially like the sparks of purple, which make it really special. And this one is so sparkly too! Definitely one of my favorites.

On my nails:
2 coats China Glaze I Herd That
2 coats Classic Films Nail Lacquer Sunset Boulevard
1 coat HK Girl Topcoat

Lastly, Spellbound is a shimmery pink base full of various satin light pink and yellow hexes, iridescent shards, and red hearts. I layered it over Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fae, a shimmery fuschia. I had the slightest trouble getting glitter on the brush, but it wasn't that tough - and other than that no issues. This is a super pretty color, and I love how the glitters blend together with the base.

outdoors, sun
outdoors, shade
On my nails:
1 coat Innisfree Eco Peel-off Base coat
2 coats Carpe Noctem Cosmetics Fae
2 coats Classic Films Nail Lacquer Spellbound
1 coat HK Girl Topcoat

So I layered all of them over matching base colors initially, but as I was applying I noticed some of them seemed like they would have no trouble reaching opacity, so I thought it would be helpful to all to check how they looked on their own! They all ended up with decent coverage, some more sheer than others but it's really up to how you feel about sheer polish in the end. Below you will find skittle swatches, all at 3 coats each:

And there you have it! I was incredibly impressed with these pretties from Classic Films; with each and every one of them I was just the teensiest touch sad every time I had to take them off. Application was great and the color combos were all super sparkly and beautiful. I have been taking a bit of a glitter break recently (kind of been all holo, all the time) but these definitely rekindled my life for all things sparkly :)

Have a great day! ♥
