Holo Leopard Nails!

Hello all! Today I have some fun leopard print nail art to share with you. I have done leopard nails before, but never traditional real leopard-looking ones, so this was a fun look to try out. For the gold base I used Dollish Polish Squirrel!, a soft gold linear holo. Since I was trying to match my mani to some leopard print leggings I wanted to wear, I had to mix the perfect brown color since I didn't have the exact shade, so for the brown, I used a mix of Aly's Dream Polish Copper, a copper scatter holo, and Chirality Nail Polish I Got a Rock, a brown linear holo. I then just drew on the spot outlines in Aly's Dream Polish Super Black, a black scatter holo. I think it turned out really cool, take a look!

3 coats Dollish Polish Squirrel!/ 3 coats Chirality I Got a Rock/Aly's Copper
(dotted on) Chirality I Got a Rock/Aly's Copper/Aly's Super Black
1 coat KB Shimmer Clearly On Top

Very fun mani! Looking back at all my old leopard print nails it's nice to see I've improved, haha. And of course it is always fun to match your mani to your outfit!

Twelve Manis of Christmas

Hello all, and a very Merry Christmas to you! (or Happy... Boxing Day? Apologies, this post was planned for earlier but I got carried away with festivities and such). I hope you all had a lovely day! I have of course been a bit slack with posting all my Christmas manis... but I have still been wearing them! So once again I will have to resort to a mass post with multiple manis, just like I did on Halloween. But, but but! since it did actually end up being exactly 12, I figured it was meant to be, haha. Enjoy!

outdoors, sun
First off, by far my favorite ultra-Christmas mani I wore this year - Candy Lacquer Mickeys & Mistletoe over Aly's Dream Polish Emerald and Dark Emerald. I just love how the lime green glitters here contrast against the dark green! And of course the Mickey glitter is just adorable.

outdoors, sun
Next up is Lilypad Lacquer Sweet Baby Jesus, a sheer silvery scatter holo with flakes and a pinky blue shift. So pretty! Shown here over Enchanted Polish Dime Piece, a silver holo. I wore this one to church on Christmas Eve - thought it was perfect, given the name :)

outdoors, sun
Next up, my picks from the KB Shimmer winter collection. Merry Pinkmas  is a baby pink crelly with assorted Christmassy glitters. It was a little sheer on me, so it took about four coats I think? But totally worth it! So adorable :) I actually wore this one for like an entire week - over Thanksgiving, was too busy to change my mani, but definitely a great one to get stuck in for awhile!

outdoors, overcast
Snow Flaking Way is a blurple jelly with various silver and blue glitters and of course snowflakes! I had a specific dress I wanted to match this one that was a touch bluer than its base, so I layered it over Picture Polish Freya's Cats, a blue jelly scatter holo to blue it up a bit. Love it, so squishy and wintry!

outdoors, sun
And the last of the KB Shimmers, Christmas Now is a grassy green jelly base with assorted Christmassy rainbow glitters. It was a little sheer so I layered it over Essie Mojito Madness, a grassy green creme. I just loved this one, one of my favorite shades of green! I don't have any pictures I don't think but I matteified it after a bit, and I really loved it that way too.

outdoors, sun
Onto another brand... I actually got a couple more Lynnderella Christmas polishes that I haven't worn yet (one of the new Christmas collection, and I was also lucky enough to snag one of the Advent LEs, w00t!) but have only worn Eleven Ladies Dancing, a mostly red-leaning rainbowy glitter, thus far (P.S. aww, the number 11 just reminds me of the Doctor Who Christmas special tonight :( anyone else watch it?!) But anyway, I layered it over Aly's Dream Polish Bayouberry, a cool sky blue soft scatter holo. Great combo, perfect together!

outdoors, sun
And on to my Dollish Polish picks of the season. I couldn't help loving Dolly's Christmas Vacation-inspired holiday collection; totally my favorite Christmas movie! This one is Jolliest Bunch of A**holes This Side of the Nuthouse, a pink-leaning white crelly with Christmas dots and microglitter. Very cute, love white crellys!

outdoors, overcast
Also from Dolly is Merry Christmas... Sh*tters Full!, haha. It's a fantastically dense rainbow microglitter, shown here over Aly's Dream Polish Super Black, a blue scatter holo. Seriously in love with this glitter, might be my new favorite rainbow glitter! It looks like rainbow fish scales.

outdoors, sun
Next up are some lovely Enchanted Polish skittles, both topped off with lovely Candy Lacquer glitters. First is EP Ho Ho Holidays (Chelsea's Christmas collection from last year): Bruised Nutcracker, Dance of the Sugarplum, Green Peace on Earth, and Olive the Other Reindeer with CL Holiday Dreams, a mix of various holo pastel shapes. Super pretty; all the colors went together perfectly!

outdoors, sun
I also did the same idea with EP Holiday 2013, a plummy burgundy holo, Dime Piece, and All Love Garden, an olive holo, topped off with CL Candy Cane Lane, a mix of red and white glitters in various shapes. Looking at this one now I miss it, haha - so festive!

outdoors, sun? I think
The last of my Christmas Candy Lacquers! Rocking A-Round the Christmas Tree is a clear base with rainbowy circle glitters and green shimmer in the base. I layered it here over Aly's Dream Polish Emerald. So pretty! Love the abundance of circles.

And finally, my actual Christmas mani - the one I am tipwearing into oblivion as I write this post. On my nails for the big day was Colors by Llarowe Man in the Red Suit, a red holo (super holo too, but totally covered up by) Different Dimension Don't Be the Santa of Everything, which is red and green glitters and just about as Christmassy as you get. Apologies for the garbage picture; we were gone about all day today, bouncing around several family members' houses and visiting and I just didn't get a chance to get a good picture. This was crazy sparkly though, just like an ornament!

And there you have it! My posting schedule the past few months has been atrocious, so it kind of sucks that I had to shove all these feature-length manis into one big long post, but at least it was a good one full of lots of pretty :) Here's to hoping 2014's posting will be better! -clink-

Have a wonderful day!

Ellagee Christmas Polishes Swatches & Review

Hello all! It's absurd how long it's been since I posted regularly, and for that I apologize. The past few months have been very busy and stressful and draining for various reasons, and posting has therefore not exactly been at the top of my list of things to do. However, Christmas is upon us and if you know me at all, you know I cannot resist holiday nails! So I will hopefully get up several posts showing off my festive fingers in the next week :)

left to right, up to down: Gramma's Candy Dish, I Wish You Peace,
It's a Festivus Miracle!

And I will start by showing off a few lovely holiday polishes from Ellagee! Ellagee is a brand I have been following for awhile, so I was thrilled when Laura, the creator behind these pretty polishes, contacted me about reviewing a few for you guys. And bonus, they are all Christmassy, AND two are holos - score!

It's A Festivus Miracle! is a very pale grayish blue with a subtle scatter holo. I love this color! So delicate and super wintry. I had no trouble with the formula, it was excellent. To jazz it up a bit I did a tiny accent of Saran-wrap marbling with China Glaze Glistening Snow. Loved these two together!

On my nails:
3 coats Ellagee It's a Festivus Miracle!
1 coat KB Shimmer Clearly On Top

I Wish You Peace is a super dark foresty green holo. The holo is much stronger in this one than Festivus Miracle and leans more linear in its holo effect. I adore this color so much, it's the perfect dark green holo! Reminds me of pine trees. No issues with application again :)

On my nails:
2 coats Ellagee I Wish You Peace

Finally, perhaps the most Christmassy of all! Gramma's Candy Dish is a clear base glitter mix full of small matte pink, green, red, and white hexes and squares. To make it extra festive I layered it over Christmas skittles - Lilypad Lacquer Too Much Excite-mint and In the Milkyway, and Enchanted Polish Stay Classy, San Diego. Loved this so much! Wore it right on December 1st, when I could stand a lack of Christmas nails no longer :)

Overall I was totally thrilled with these polishes from Ellagee. Not only were the colors beautiful and the application great, I just really loved how they all were so different and unique, but each able to get me in that special Christmassy mood :) Love love love Christmas nails - look forward to more soon!

couldn't bear to crop out my Christmas wreath in this one -
isn't is so pretty and festive? I love this picture!

Crazy Holo Rainbow Dotticure!

Hello all! I promised you Christmas and holiday manis galore... those are on the way for sure, but today I have a fun dotticure to share with you instead - don't think anyone would mind though, when holo rainbows are involved :) I started off with Lilypad Lacquer In the Milkyway, an off-white soft holo, then dotted with various China Glaze neon shimmers - Surfin' For Boys, Love's a Beach, Orange You Hot, Sun-Kissed, I'm With the Lifeguard, Splish Splash, and finally Gothic Lolita, the only non-neon of the the bunch. I finally topped everything off with Colors by Llarowe Leather and Lace, a holo topcoat, to make everything really shine. I love how it all went together, take a look!

1 coat Innifree Eco Peel-off Base coat
3 coats Lilypad Lacquer In the Milkyway
-dotted- various China Glaze (see above)
1 coat Colors by Llarowe Leather and Lace
1 coat KB Shimmer Clearly On Top

I just loved this mani! I have done lots of dotticures before, but this was a slightly different technique, both because the colors were different for each nail, and because I slightly varied the size of the dots. Overall super fun and colorful!

You can find Colors by Llarowe at Llarowe, of course!
You can find Lilypad Lacquer at Llarowe as well - or their Etsy ~ and be sure to check out their Facebook!

Influenster Varsity VoxBox Review

Hello all! I cannot believe how long it has been since I last had a post for you - 3 weeks, wow! Suffice to say life has been very busy and blogging has fallen a bit to the side - but don't worry, I am still here, and hoping to have plenty of holiday mani posts for you in the next month :)

For today I have the Influenster Varsity VoxBox to review for you. I am sure most of you know of Influenster by now, and how they put together fun boxes full of products tailored to fit your interests and then send them out for a bunch of people to test and review. The Varsity Voxbox of course has a lot of products that I find really useful as a college student - to find out what they are and how I liked them, keep on reading!

Since of course PTR is a nail blog, what better place to start than with the nail strips included in the kit? Kiss Nail Dress nail strips are pretty easy in theory to put on - stick on the strips, fold them over, and then use the included nail file to file off the extra. I did have a hard time getting these to lie completely flat against my nail without wrinkles, but I did like the blingy effect! This was my first attempt with nail strips, so I can only get better with practice. Below is a how-to for how to apply the strips - just click to enlarge the image!

Second up, my favorite product of the box - NYC New York Color Big Bold Plumping & Shine Lip Gloss! This is a lip gloss, and the first plumper I've tried. I got it in the shade "Pleasantly Plump Pink" and it was a bit of a neutral/bubblegum shade. When I applied it was a little tacky/sticky but not too bad, and definitely had that tingly feeling of plumpers I've heard about. I don't know if it made my lips that much plumper but I did like it!

with gloss
Next up is Airheads Xtremes Bite, which are yummy gummy sweet-and-sour candies. Really enjoyed these! I don't love fruity candy a lot, I find it to be a little bit of sugar overkill, so the sour is a nice balance to that.

I couldn't help it, lol
Next is Tide Pods! These are delightful little pods of detergent that act as both detergent, stain remover and brightener. I have actually been using these forever, ever since I started doing my own laundry regularly in fact! I find the pod shape to be super convenient and it makes doing laundry very easy. These ones in particular had a light springy scent - very pleasant!

Lastly, Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash is a raspberry/cranberry scented face wash. I used this a few times and found it quite pleasant. It is salicylic acid-based, as opposed to benzoyl peroxide (those are the two main ingredients usually used in acne medication as far as I know). I enjoyed the chance to try out a new face wash - always looking for the new trick to achieve and maintain flawless skin!

Overall this was a great mix of products and I am glad I got to review them for you! Influenster never lets me down in introducing me to cool new stuff to try out :)

Hope to have more mani posts up for you guys soon!

Have a fantastic day!

Halloween Manis Galore - Zombies & Pumpkins & Skulls, Oh My!

Happy (somewhat belated) Halloween, lovelies! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. I have been a bit lax in posting this month, but rest assured I have worn plenty of fun and festive manis. Rather than clogging everyone's feed with multiple last-minute posts (or even worse, waiting until next year to post) I thought I would show them all off in one post - enjoy!

First up, the mani I actually wore today - Lumina Lacquer Mick or Treat, a mix of orange, red, yellow, silver, and gray glitters (including silver Micky Mouse-shaped glitters and moons, and orange and black pumpkins!) over Glittering Elements Countess, a burgundy-leaning dark warm purple holo. Love those pumpkins! This was the absolute perfect Halloween mani.

Lilypad Lacquer Queen of Halloween is a fantastic burgundy holo. Love love love Lilypads, and this was no exception! Perfect holo effect.

outdoors, sun

LynBDesigns Fluffy Pumpkin is a pumpkin orange holo. So sparkly! This is the perfect Halloween holo.

outdoors, sun

Shleee Polish The Great Pumpkin is a mix of orange green, and black glitters and orange pumpkin glitters. I layered it over LynBDesigns Fluffy Pumpkin and Lilypad Lacquer Global Greenie, an emerald green holo. Super cute mani, love how all the colors go together!

outdoors, sun

Glam Polish Corpse Bride is a white crelly base full of white purple, and black glitters and pink skull-shaped glitters. I mattefied it with OPI Matte Topcoat. Also such a cute mani - wore this one with my favorite Jack Skellington shirt; thought it was a perfect match :)

outdoors, overcast

Enchanted Polish To Die For is a mix of gray-ish purple glitters in a holo-shimmery base. I layered it over Lilypad Lacquer Black Pearl, a gray-ish lavender holo with a pink sparkle. These two go flawlessly together! If you happen to have both of these babies, you MUST pair them together - I tried a ton of combos, and this was my fave by far.

outdoors, shade

LynBDesigns This is Halloween is a coppery glitter with orange and pink/purple glitters. Over it I layered Liquid Lacquer Witchy Resting Face Syndrome, a clear base with orange, purple, yellow, and pink glitters. Must admit, I got this polish for the name alone (I may be accused of having a similar syndrome myself from time to time, lol) but I ended up loving it like crazy - and these two were perfect together!

indoors, daylight lamp+flash

Peita's Polish Monster Mash is a mix of red, black, and purple glitters in a clear silver shimmery base. I started out layering it over China Glaze That's Shore Bright, a neon purple creme, then layered on top China Glaze Are You Jelly?, a neon purple jelly, and finally took Saran wrap to it for a marbled look. The marbling here is super subtle, but I love the effect!

outdoors, shade

KB Shimmer You Go Ghoul! is a black jelly with purple, orange, and pink glitters. I love how dark this one reads - but the glitters pop against it so perfectly, just the perfect touch of color! Very pretty.

outdoors, overcast

Shleee Polish Marion Crane is a mix of white and pink hexes, purple hearts, and hot reddish-pink skulls. I layered it over Essie For the Twill of It, a grayish purple and green duochrome. I also mattefied the whole thing, mainly because I have always wondered what a matte duochrome would look like - and the verdict is: it looks great! Loved this mani a ton; had a hard time taking it off.

outdoors, sun

Dollish Polish Walker Bait is an olive green holo. So pretty! This one was super mega holo.

outdoors, sun

And finally, Candy Lacquer Miss Halloween 2013 is a mix of pink, red, black, and white glitters - mainly hexes, some stars and hearts, and diamonds - in a clear base. I layered it over a Saran wrap marble of two unnameds - baby pink and hot pink. The pumpkins were not a part of Miss Halloween; I stole them from another polish. Such a fun look; loved it! Super loud and bright.

outdoors, overcast+flash

And there you have it! Here I was thinking I hadn't been wearing enough Halloween polish this year - had no idea I had so many manis saved up, unposted! Christmas is coming up soon... here's to hoping I have a slightly more regular posting schedule then ;)

Happy Halloween! And now... Happy November! Which, as far as I am concerned, means Merry Christmas - is it too early to put my tree up? I think not.

Have a fantastic day! ♥

Euphoric Lacquer Caution! Black Cat Crossing & Got Candy?

Hey guys! Today I have a couple Halloween manis featuring polishes from a new-to-me shop, Euphoric Lacquer! As you know, I always love trying out new brands, and I adore Halloween polishes, so I was super excited to try these babies out :)

For this one, I did a gradient of Lime Crime Lavendairy, a pastel lavender, and Pastelchio, a pastel pistachio green (over a white base of butter LONDON Cotton Buds to make the colors pop) and then I used Euphoric Lacquer Got Candy?, a clear base with a mixture of teal, yellow, purple, and pink hexes in various sizes. Loved this mani! Wore this one on October 1st - to celebrate the official beginning of holiday season in my book :)
