Naild'it Summer Lovin Melon

Hello lovelies! Hope you are having an excellent Friday. Today I have for you a mani that undeniably screams "summer!" when you look at it. Unfortunately, it is getting a bit chillier here as of late but it certainly is nice to look back at this mani and recall more carefree days :)

This is Naild'it Summer Lovin Melon, which is an amazing polish full of all sorts of glitters. There are matte pink, red, orange, green, black and white hexes ranging in size from giant (those lovely giant black hexes) all the way down to super-tiny. There are also some shiny medium pink hexes, white bars, and black matte heart glitters. There are even some shiny pink heart glitters in there if I recall correctly, but they are a bit tough to see in the pictures, especially with a nearly matching base. (And wow, that really is a lot of glitter! Hope I didn't miss anything.) Speaking of base, I used China Glaze Surfin' for Boys, which is from the 2012 neon collection and is a tough color for me to describe -- sort of a coral-like reddish orange shimmer? Regardless, it was a pretty combo and shupe
r bright. I thought the two went together perfectly to create that summery fruity look. After that I couldn't help but add a splash of China Glaze Fairy Dust to give the otherwise very matte mani a holo sparkle. :) Check it out below!

1 coat Seche Clear
2 coats China Glaze Surfin' for Boys
2 coats Naild'it Summer Lovin Melon

2 coats Seche Vite

I really loved this mani! Summer Lovin Melon was a bit difficult to work with -- with all that glitter it was quite thick and a bit gloopy, if I recall. There was no trouble getting the large glitters out -- in fact, (dare I even say this but) there were almost too many! Of course, this would not be a problem for some, but I am a little crazy :) and usually like to make sure with accent glitters like large hexes and hearts there are the same number on each nail, which can be hard to control when they come out so readily. If this is a problem for you too I dealt with it buy setting the excess large glitters aside on the neck of the bottle until I was ready for them, or just applying the large glitters to new nails and then going back over it with the rest of the polish when I was ready. It was  kind of a pain, but the end result is so fun and vibrant it was well worth it, in my opinion. :)

Lynnderella Early Halloween - Nightshade

Hi lovelies! I have something extra special for today. As you might know Lynnderella recently released a new collection called Early Halloween, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the new shades -- which just happens to be my favorite of the collection! Nightshade is a gorgeous mix of navy and black glitter in different sizes and both hexes and squares, as well as a decent smattering of small purple/indigo hexes, and tons of holo microglitter in a clear base. It applied totally perfectly for me -- no glittering curling on this one! The glitter is dense enough that I think with 3 or 4 careful coats you could probably get it opaque if you wanted (I tested this out on my thumb and it was mostly good at 3 but still a little patchy)  -- but as for me, I went with a base of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Blazing Blue, which is a pretty navy blue shimmer. I took tons of pictures trying to capture the amazingness of this polish, so check it out below!

2 coats Sally Hansen Blazing Blue
2 coats Lynnderella Nightshade
1 coat Seche Vite
1 coat OPI Top Coat
1 coat Seche Vite

This one was pretty topcoat hungry, so I had to do what I call a Seche sandwich -- two coats of Seche with regular topcoat in-between to get that glassy finish. But the gorgeous sparkle is so so worth it! Below I have a couple of blurry pics that show the holo really well.

I just adore this polish so much! It has that night sky vibe going on, but with all that black glitter it is just a touch more mysterious -- like a night sky with witches flying across it on their brooms! :) Perfect for Halloween in that sense, and pretty enough to be perfect all year round. Love it.

Lynnderella Lucky Numbers

Hello! Today I have for you a polish I have loved for a long time, and recently got my hands on. Ever since I saw More Nail Polish's lovely post on Lynnderella Lucky Numbers, I have thought it was just so incredibly lovely -- the mix of glitters brings to mind playing cards, especially on a white base, and that strong pink shimmer is absolutely gorgeous.

Of course those who have tried know obtaining Lynnderella polish is not the easiest.. however as she has recently been offering lots of her polishes for BIN prices on eBay, I took the chance to add some of my favorites I'd been missing to my collection. Hurray for longtime lemming fulfillment!

Lucky Numbers is a mix of black and red glitters in all sorts of shapes and sizes -- hexes, bars, and squares. Applying was not a problem at all -- I do sometimes have trouble applying Lynnderella glitters, in terms of not spreading out evenly over the nail or sticking up, but this one applied flawlessly and laid flat. The best part, as stated, is the prominent pink shimmery base! I think it adds so much to an already lovely glitter combo. Layering it over a white creme really helps to show off that shimmer. (You can see it best zooming in to the pictures and on the black glitters, but in real life it is super easy to see!) Check it out below!

Alas, it is pouring rain outside so no sun pics... however, even from these shots you can see how it just glows with that shimmer :) I know some people might have their qualms with Lynnderella but you can't deny her polishes are just lovely! After this mani I can safely say I love Lucky Numbers just as much as I thought I would :)

Pretty Sparkly(?) Palate Cleanser

Hi! I have just a quick post for you today, because I need to get back to studying for my accounting test tomorrow. I don't often have those moments where I need a "palate cleanser" mani so to speak, but a while back after a fairly intense glitterbomb (that took no less than an hour to remove, I am not kidding you) I was in need of a break.

I started out with a base of Essie Adore-a-ball, which is an extremely sheer peachy-pink shade perfect for French manicures. It was a little tough to apply but I found that with a reasonably steady hand I could do just one coat without any streaks, which was nice (and rare for this type of color) because I found 2 coats a bit pinker and more opaque than what I wanted. However, I suppose my frustration with glitter evaporated quite quickly because I found it pretty but boring, and in need of a little pizzazz :) I carefully applied OPI Teenage Dream to my tips. I wanted it to have a jagged edgy look (kind of like icicles) instead of a neat edge. And after that, I still felt it was missing something, so I added some holo sparkle to my ring finger with Lynnderella Shapeshifter

1 coat Essie Adore-a-ball
1 coat (on tips) OPI Teenage Dream
1 coat (carefully dabbed on accent finger) Lynnderella Shapeshifter
1 coat Seche Vite

I really like this look, as it was fairly low-key while still both hiding my yucky yellow-stained nails and also having some fun sparkle. I don't do manis like this often but once in awhile they are quite nice.

Cirque Colors Tibetan Nights

Hi lovelies! Sorry about the late post today, but I think you'll find the wait was worth it for this one :) Today I have for you the wonderful Cirque Colors Tibetan Nights! This is a yummy deep blue jelly polish with tons of tiny silver glitter and the tiniest silver bar glitters I have ever seen. The jelly base allows for layering of the glitters to achieve that jelly-glitter sandwich look we all love so much.

Application was not as tricky for me as some have warned, but that is likely because keeping those warnings in mind I was being extra careful. This is a thinner formula so some running and pooling could happen if you aren't paying attention. Just don't have too much polish on your brush (thin coats are the way to go) and apply near your cuticles carefully and I think you won't have too hard of a time. The extra effort is definitely worth it!

On my nails:
1 coat Orly Bonder
4 coats Cirque Colors Tibetan Nights
1 coat Seche Vite

Now I must confess that when I first laid eyes on this polish I immediately thought of the elusive and much sought-after Essie Starry Starry Night. After some consideration, it is clearly quite different -- the base color of SSN is much darker and more blurple-leaning (although none of my photos are quite color accurate, as TN appears darker on the nails than the bright blue these photos suggest, but not quite like SSN I think) and the glitters are different, which leads to a different finish and overall appearance. This is all just from viewing pictures of course, as I have yet to add SSN to my stash, alas.

HOWEVER, if SSN has been calling out to you for awhile and you have been looking for the perfect alternative to no avail, Tibetan Nights might just be the polish to satisfy that lemming for you, as it has for me. :) It certainly takes on the appearance of a lovely starry night sky, which I was told by many people today as they ooh-ed and ahh-ed over my nails -- always a sign for me that a polish is a winner :)

365 Days of Color Birthday Bash + Rock Candy

Hello everyone! As some may remember, yesterday was my 20th birthday! Due to birthday festivities (dinner at a super-amazing fondue restaurant among other things), I couldn't quite get my birthday mani posted yesterday -- so here it is today!

Going through my stash for the perfect birthday polish, I knew this was perfect as soon as I saw it. This is 365 Days of Color Birthday Bash -- a lovely white milky base full of little turquoise glitters and shredded rainbow glitters! To give it a bit more of a rainbow punch I topped it off with two coats of 365 Days of Color Rock Candy, which is some more of that lovely rainbow shredded glitter in a clear base. Check it out below!

indoors, natural light
Birthday Bash was quite sheer, being in that milky base, but it built up quite nicely by that third coat. I did have some trouble with the shard glitters not lying flat, but most of them were just fine -- just a few needed trimming or pulling off with a pair of tweezers, and then all was well.

On my nails:
1 coat Orly Bonder
3 coats 365 Days of Color Birthday Bash
2 coats 365 Days of Color Rock Candy

This polish reminds me of funfetti cake -- super adorable! I really love the abundance of little blue glitters, too -- they almost make it look like a really pale blue polish, which I love!

Naild'it Rainbow's End

Hi all! Hope your day has been fantastic so far! I myself am in a pretty wonderful mood right now -- if anyone possibly read my intro post they might remember that my other obsession beyond nail polish is the Korean pop group, TVXQ (and JYJ as well). Well, today in my mail I received a delightful surprise -- apparently I won some raffle held by their merchandising company, and with it a signed photo! Needless to say, I am giddy :)

Today I have for you a wonderful gold glitter called Rainbow's End by Naild'it. Naild't is a brand that has been on Etsy for a while, but if you don't know her from there, you might recognize her as a brand that will be added to llarowe soon, but I got this polish a couple months ago. Rainbow's End is a lovely gold glitter with multiple sizes of matte rainbow glitter and white bar glitters. It is adorable! Gold is a bit of a hit or miss for me -- sometimes I find it a little unflattering on my skin tone. However, this particular gold glitter had a warmer tone to it, which seemed a little different than any other gold glitters I have. I really liked the way it looked :) I am sure Rainbow's End would reach opacity in  maybe 3 coats, but for this mani I layered it over China Glaze I Herd That from the Safari collection, which is a lovely color in itself. Check it out below!

I just think this is such a cute polish :) I love the nail, too -- the polish is literally the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! I wore this mani awhile ago, but after writing this post, I can't wait to wear it again.

If you like this polish, you can buy Naild'it on her Etsy or on llarowe, available there soon!

Tomorrow is my birthday, so look forward to a birthday mani! Have a lovely day! ♥

butter LONDON The Black Knight + Hit Polish Razzle Dazzle

Hi all! Hope everyone's day has been fantastic. Mine was good, but ultra busy. So busy, that I woke up extra early this morning to get some good pictures of my nails in the sunlight before the day took it's toil on them and tipwear showed up -- only to have my camera's battery die on me! I did manage to get some pictures inside, and ended up with a not-too-shabby outdoors iPhone pic, which sure is a relief-- I would hate to not be able to share this mani!

Today I have for you butter LONDON The Black Knight. I am sure most of us know of this amazing polish by now, which is chock full of black, pink, blue and silver microglitter. In one word, it is amazing! I'm a sucker for dark polishes with a little something special added in like colorful microglitter, so this one hits the spot. I wore three coats here, but easily got away with two thicker coats on my thumbs.

As if it wasn't sparkly and fantastic enough already, I decided to add a chunky glitter gradient over The Black Knight. Looking through my stash of untried indie glitters, I found a winner in Hit Polish Razzle Dazzle, which has the exact perfect combination of glitters to go with The Black Knight! Razzle Dazzle is full of lovely pink, aqua, turquoise, and purple glitters in both hexes and shards. It was perfectly thick, also -- I had to dab to get it on only half my nail, but I have a feeling it would apply perfectly if you were doing the whole nail. Check it out below!

butter LONDON Scouse + Rainbow Honey Mare of the Moon

Hello! Hope your day has been lovely so far. Today I have for you the beautiful butter LONDON Scouse. Scouse is a gorgeous polish made up of bright blue and pinkish purple glitters with a fantastic blue-purple duochrome effect. It was very much on the sheer side, so I had to use 4 coats. 3 coats would have likely sufficed, but I think that last coat added some nice depth. To jazz my mani up a bit I did an accent with Rainbow Honey Mare of the Moon, which is similar in color to Scouse but a bit darker and with more purple. It also has holo glitter sprinkled throughout in several sizes, and adorable blue moons to boot! Check it out below.

The duochrome was a bit difficult to capture but it is incredibly prominent in person, and super lovely. In the pictures below I attempt to show you just how nice the purple shift is, and if you look closely you can see the lovely pinkish-purple glitters as well.

Rainbow Honey Hoof Wrassle

Hello! Hope everyone's day has been excellent thus far. I want to take a moment to thank all my new followers, as well as my sister Jenny for directing everyone over to my humble little blog :) Here's to hoping you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them!

Today I have for you Rainbow Honey Hoof Wrassle from her Equestria collection. I have to say, to date I have bought every Rainbow Honey available because I just think they are so wonderful :) I love the inspiration behind every polish, the colors are always so beautiful, and the formula is lovely! What more can you ask for, right?

indoors, natural light lamp

Hoof Wrassle is no exception. As quoted from Rainbow Honey's official description, it is "a shimmery copper orange base studded with gold, copper, and orange hex and square glitter, and a sprinkling of iridescent and holographic glitters - this polish loves to sparkle in the sun." This sure is a perfect explanation! I wish I had a chance to see that sunny sparkle, but alas, sun was not in the cards for today here.

2 coats China Glaze Orange You Hot?

Oranges aren't usually my thing, but I think the coppery base of Hoof Wrassle looks really nice with my skin tone. It reminds me of a pumpkin patch, with the orange hexes being cute little pumpkins. While I am not quite ready yet to part with summer and transition to fall, if I have to, I think this mani is the way to go. :)

Have a great day! ♥

Dollish Polish Hylian Princess

I adore the Legend of Zelda games. Don't play them nearly as much as I'd like to (especially since my Wii is at my parents' house while I'm off at college) but the fantasy and adventure have always appealed to me, ever since I was old enough to hold a controller. So when I saw Dollish Polish had a duo set based on the games, I knew they were just what I needed!

Today I have for you Dollish Polish Hylian Princess. I find this to be positively ethereal -- perfectly in keeping with Princess Zelda's beautiful, slightly mysterious image. It is chock full of purple and white hexes in different sizes, small gold squares and hexes, and much to my surprise and delight, even the occasional large holo hex! Many people have layered this over light purples, but I wanted to try something a bit darker and richer, so I went with an old Maybelline Express Finish in All I Want is Purple.

On my nails:
1 coat Orly Bonder
2 coats Maybelline All I Want is Purple

I really adored this combo! The purple glitter blended with the base really well to give it an amazing depth. I only wish I had sunlight a little earlier, so that I could have taken pictures before that annoying tipwear showed up. Here it is in sun.

outdoors, sunlight
This was a super blingy manicure, which was just what I was in the mood for :) As you will likely soon discover, purple polishes are my favorite, so this was pretty much perfect in my book! And add in the Zelda connection, and I'm set. Off to fantasize about galloping across Hyrule now... have a nice day! ♥

Hi! I like polish.

Well hello! If you managed to stumble onto this humble blog and love nail polish as much as I do, you are in luck :)

I suppose an introduction is in order before I start posting the stuff we all care about, so here goes~ My name is Becky. I'm 19 years old (turning 20 on this coming Friday, though!) and currently a sophomore in college majoring in Marketing. I have always enjoyed painting my nails since I was young, but the obsession really kicked in following the creation of my older sister Jenny's blog (Polishology, if you're wondering). Lately, I have developed a love for all things indie -- which is really no surprise to me, since those glitters were always my favorite :) I don't do much in the way of nail art but I'm hoping that finally biting the bullet and making my own blog will inspire me to try new things, so look forward to that! (Messy water marbles, smeared Konad and wobbly freehand ftw!)

As for non-polish interests, I have an interest in Japanese and Korean pop-culture (some may say Asian dramas/music and nail polish are my dual obsessions, and they wouldn't be wrong). My favorite group is TVXQ (which to me includes JYJ too -- always keep the faith! But I doubt that means anything to most potential readers, and that's ok :P ) I also love to read and I enjoy drawing, though I don't do it much anymore. I am getting my minor in Japanese and while it is a lot of work, I find learning new languages to be quite fun and very rewarding, so it is worth it :)

I have a pet bunny named Pippin and two gerbils named Malo and Talo, so pictures of them might sneak onto this blog from time to time!

I will leave you with a picture of my cute Pippin -- and the promise for many lovely pictures of polish in the near future~ :)
